Get involved with our campaigns

Public involvement is at the heart of our campaigns. We believe that real change happens when communities come together to raise awareness, take action, and support one another in making healthier choices.

By getting involved, you can help shape initiatives that promote better health and wellbeing across Surrey. Whether it's spreading the word, sharing your experiences, or participating in local events, your voice and actions make a difference.

We work closely with our health and social care partners to create campaigns that address key health issues, and we want you to be part of the conversation. Your insights, feedback, and participation help ensure that our programmes truly meet the needs of our communities.

How Surrey Heartlands worked with our communities for Winter health readiness

At Surrey Heartlands, ensuring our communities are well-prepared for winter is at the heart of our mission. Building on the successes of last year’s campaign, our Winter Engagement Programme for 2024/25 reached new heights in its efforts to promote health and wellbeing during the colder months.

By working closely with partners, attending high-footfall locations, and hosting targeted pop-up events, we were able to connect with over 1,200 residents, engaging with diverse groups across Surrey.

This year, we expanded our footprint, engaging with more venues and community organisations. From bustling shopping centres to community hubs, our roadshows and pop-ups provided an accessible way to raise awareness of flu, COVID-19, and RSV vaccinations, as well as the benefits of services like NHS 111 and Pharmacy First.

Highlights from our engagement activity

In 2024/25 we focused on:

  • Increasing participation — over 1,200 members of the public engaged with our team, a significant increase from 700 interactions in 2023/24.
  • Targeting our engagement activity — we worked with key partners such as local food banks, faith-based organisations, and charities supporting underrepresented communities to ensure our messaging reached those most in need.
  • Increasing the impact of social media — a robust digital campaign complemented our in-person efforts, with over 49,000 views across platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and Nextdoor.

Looking back on the previous year we changed our approach to:

  • Provide a greater focus on inclusivity — we deepened our engagement with marginalised communities. This included hosting information pop-ups in collaboration with organisations such as Surrey Minority Ethnic Forum and The Matrix.
  • Enhance RSV awareness — last year, only 29% of respondents were aware of RSV vaccinations. Thanks to targeted education, awareness increased significantly this year, ensuring more eligible individuals are informed about their options.
  • Refine and simplify our messaging — based on feedback from 2023/24, we streamlined our communication materials to make them clearer and more accessible, encouraging more proactive health behaviours.

Our annual winter campaign is a testament to the power of collaboration, innovation, and listening to our communities. As we plan for the future, we’re committed to refining our strategies, ensuring even greater impact, and continuing to support the health and wellbeing of all Surrey residents.
