Upgraded x-ray facilities bring numerous benefits to local people in East Surrey

An upgraded x-ray suite goes live this month at Caterham Dene Hospital, Tandridge’s community hospital, benefitting local residents who won’t have to travel further afield for this scanning service.

The x-ray facilities at Caterham Dene Hospital are used by both the hospital’s Minor Injuries Unit as well by local GPs who refer their patients directly.

The upgraded x-ray machine is more accessible, offering a better experience for patients. Compared to the machine it replaces, the upgraded x-ray platform is fully adjustable in height which enables patients with mobility issues to be scanned more easily.

It also offers superior image quality and immediate digital images which will offer patients shorter appointments and mean that results are available sooner.

Commented Redhill GP Tom Woodward:

I'm delighted the upgraded x-ray machine is up and running at Caterham Dene. It will deliver significant benefits, particularly for our elderly population due to the ability of the new scanner that makes it easier to position patients and deliver scans in a more comfortable way. It’s a fantastic local facility.

Added Joe Cook, General Manager for Diagnostics at Surrey and Sussex NHS Healthcare Trust, which operates the facilities:

We are really pleased with the new x-ray machine. It is quicker and produces high quality images with a lower radiation dose than the previous system, and the refreshed room also improves the patient experience. We are looking forward to using our state-of-the-art imaging equipment.
