Grayshott Surgery Host Collaboration Health Hub
Grayshott Surgery hosted their first Collaboration Health Hub on 24January 2024, which gave local people the opportunity to learn about health and care support available within the community without the need of a GP.
The idea of a Health Hub was created by Grayshott Surgery’s Practice Manager Kellie West and Care Co-Ordinator Charlotte Cradock.
Kellie West, Grayshott Surgery Practice Manager, said:
Collaborative practice is all about ‘Working with you to support our Community’. We wanted to create an event that is about accessing “wrap around care” that is available to everyone within our community without the need of a GP.
Sometimes we need to see our doctor to be referred into another clinical service, but the Health Hub was created to help and educate the public that there are other ways of getting the help you need.
Kellie added:
We were overwhelmed by the offers of support and help and the event could not have taken place without it. Charlotte worked really hard with the participants to try get a wide variety of options for the community to see on the day.
Over 300 people attended which is rather overwhelming and makes us feel so proud to be part of this special community. We are planning our next event which we hope will be early summer of this year.
The event was attended by a variety of different health and care organisations and charities covering the area of Grayshott. These included:
- Action for Carers
- Age UK
- 3 Counties Money Advice
- Community Wellbeing & Responder Service
- Crossways Counselling
- Derek Adler Mobility Assistance
- Equine Facilitated Learning
- Grayshott Community Care Cars
- Grayshott Parish Council
- Grayshott Surgery Champions
- Grayshott Walking Group
- Green Acres Heatherley Wood Bereavement Service
- Guildford & Waverley Health & Care Alliance
- Hampshire Health Families (Barnados)
- Headley Down Food Bank
- Hoppa Bus Service
- Midhurst Macmillan
- Patient Participation Group (PPG)
- Social Prescribing Services
- St Luke’s Church
- Surrey Fire & Rescue
- Surrey Police Community Team
- The Green Hub Teen Garden
- The Hunter Centre
- Woodlands Community Hall
The main hall was an area allocated for stalls where organisations in attendance could speak to members of the community about what health and care services they offer.
The second room was a seated area which gave attendees the opportunity to listen to talks from Grayshott Community Care Cars, Hoppa Bus Service, Headley Down Food Bank and Age UK.
The Collaborative Health Hub received positive feedback from members of the community who found the day to be ‘extremely helpful, informative and a lovely opportunity for everyone to get together.
