Paediatric Physiotherapy Assistant Apprentice

What are your main responsibilities in this role? 

I deliver physio programmes to children, order and setup equipment for children with complex physical needs. I help to run our Lycra clinic help at Cerebral Palsy Integrated Pathway (CPIP) clinics. I also attend joint visits to schools, homes or at our clinics to assist our team of physios. 

How did you start out in your apprenticeship role? 

I started my apprenticeship in April 2022 to enhance my skills and confidence in delivering our service. 

What entry-level jobs should someone pursue if they are looking to follow a similar career path? 

Therapy Assistant. 

What skills are most important in your job? 

Good communication, working as part of a team, caring about the patients and their families. 

What are the biggest challenges you face in your role? 

Having enough time to do everything!  

What are the biggest rewards in your role? 

It's great to see children develop and make progress after working with them for a period of time.  

I also enjoy having a supportive team to work with.  

Top tips for others thinking about beginning an apprenticeship? 

Go for it! It’s an amazing opportunity to further your learning and skills while working and gaining experience. 

Your next step on your career pathway? 

I am hoping to gain my full Physiotherapy degree.
